Brand. Tech. Calm. Social Good Professional.
Shawneda Crout, M.A., PMP | Master of Arts – English – Technical Communication
Memorable brands use clear, effective, integrated brand communication. You achieve this by intentionally building your brand and choosing a technical stack that enables you to remain calm – as possible.
Learned this lesson thanks to leveraging empathy and a penchant for technology to help thousands of customers “woosah.” Solving problems led to becoming known as the “irate customer whisperer” as a lead customer support technician for Comcast. After helping viewers with their cable, telephony, and hi-speed internet, creative rest including writing on off days and vacation.
Penning a romance novel (which will never see the light of day) led to publishing fiction books, nonfiction books, ghostwriting nonfiction and fiction, and the need to be immersed in marketing. Prudent career goals and diligent work habits led to returning to college as a nontraditional student completing a bachelor’s in business, and undergrad marketing certificate from Fort Hays State University. Being an adventurous DIYer lead to discovering technical communication and earning a Master’s of Arts in English, Technical Communication with a concentration on instructional design and empathetic human-computer interaction from Minnesota State University, Mankato.
Diving head first into independent publishing in the digital era thanks to a proclivity for technology led to instructional design, blogging, hosting podcasts, learning to code, and building apps. Returning to the workforce with new skills resulted in launching the marketing departments for several companies. Professional experiences as a writer and entrepreneurial endeavors proved that clear, effective communication is the foundation for achieving goals, sustaining profitability, and creating scalable systems and processes are the unsexy important building blocks needed to “Build Your Brand. Stack Your Tech. Remain Calm.”
